If you have a cat, hopefully you’ve discovered the cardboard cat scratching pads that save your furniture from those tiny, sharp claws. All they are is some corrugated cardboard all glued together, so how about making your own?

Design*Sponge has a simple set of directions for just that using only a few simple materials. whether you have a lot of cardboard and a cat, it’s the perfect upcycling project for those boxes. All you need are some lengths of cardboard cut

to the same height, some tape or glue and some catnip.

The example is made in a circular shape but I think it would be just as easy, whether not easier, to construct a rectangle.
