Participation constitutes entrant’s full and conditional agreement to and acceptance of these Official Rules (these “Official Rules”).  The Coleman Great American Backyard Campout Contest (the “Contest”) commences at 12:00:01 PM Eastern moment (“ET”) on May 25, 2012 and ends at 11:59:59 AM ET on June 8, 2012 (the “Contest Period”).  All Entries (as defined below) must be received by 11:59:59 AM ET on June 8, 2012.  All Entries received after the expiration of the Contest Period will not be accepted.


The Contest shall be administered by “bloggers” hosting the blog websites listed below (each an “Administrator”) and sponsored by The Coleman Company, Inc. (“Sponsor”) (together with the Administrators, the “Sponsor Entities”).




Open only to permanent legal residents of the 50 United States and the District of Columbia who are 21 years of age or older at the duration of entry.  VOID ELSEWHERE AND WHERE PROHIBITED BY LAW.  Employees of any of the Sponsor Entities and their instant families (i.e., parents, spouse, children, siblings, grandparents, step parents, step children and step siblings and their respective spouses, regardless of where they reside) and members of the same household of any of the Sponsor Entities, whether or not related of Sponsor Entities, and each of such household member’s respective parents, affiliated companies, subsidiaries, advertising and promotion agencies and third party fulfillment or judging agencies are not eligible to enter the Contest or win the Grand Prizes.


How to Enter:


There is one method of entry into the Contest which needs to be completed prior to the end of the Contest Period:


Enter by visiting one of the fifteen participating blog websites listed below.  Follow the hyperlinks on the blog sites to the registration page.  All entrants must supply an entry of no less than fifty (50) words and no more than one hundred (100) words describing why their family should be selected to attend the Coleman Great American Backyard Campout at the event location specified by the participating blog. When online, you will need to accurately enter your full name, address, city, state, zip cipher, daytime phone number, e-mail address and age, and submit your entry as directed (together with the essay, the “Entry”). Each blog site corresponds to the Coleman Great American Backyard Campout event location listed immediately above it.  Entrants will only be entering the Contest for the event location that corresponds with that blog site.  When online, you will need to accurately enter your full name, address, city, state, zip cipher, daytime phone number, e-mail address and age, and submit your entry as directed. Only one (1) Entry may be made per family during the Contest Period.  Entrants may not submit any additional entry by visiting more than one participating blog.  Robotic, programmed, script, macro or other automated Entries or Entries using third party software or website to register are void.  Any attempt by any participant to obtain more than one (1) Entry by using multiple/different mail addresses, mailing addresses or identities, or any other methods, will void every Entry of that participant.


Only the method of entry stated in these Official Rules will be accepted; any other method of attempted entry is void.  All entry knowledge submitted becomes the property of Sponsor and will not be returned.

Sixty (60) Grand Prize winners will be selected nationwide fifteen (15) per Coleman Great American Backyard Campout event location) to attend one (1) of four (4) specified Coleman Great American Backyard Campout’s being held on June 23,2012 at (i) Clear Lake State Park in California, (ii) Bear Creek Lake Park in Colorado, (iii) Lake of the Ozarks in Missouri and (iv) Bear Run in Pennsylvania.  Each Grand Prize winner will receive: one (1) family ticket (for up to a family of five (5)) to attend the Coleman Great American Backyard Campout at the event location specified by the participating blog upon which the winning entry was placed (Approximate Retail Value (ARV) is $995.00); and one (1) Coleman camping prize package (ARV is $1,500.00) which will be used to camp at the Coleman Great American Backyard Campout event (Total ARV of Grand Prize is $2495.00).


The Total ARV of all prizes to be won in the Contest is $149,700.00 USD.


Prize Drawing:


A panel of judges comprised of Sponsor and the respective Administrator (the “Contest Judges”) will consider, evaluate and judge all eligible Entries on the basis of (i) relevance to theme  (ii) creativity and (iii) readability, proper grammar and use of vocabulary (the “Criteria”).  All Criteria will be weighed equally.  Each eligible Entry will be given a score based on the Criteria (the “Score”) by the Contest Judges.  Odds of being selected as an eligible Grand Prize winner depend on the number of Entries per event location and caliber of eligible Entries received during the Contest Period.

Subject to compliance with these Official Rules, the fifteen (15) Entries with the highest Score, as determined by the Contest Judges in their sole and absolute discretion, for each of the four (4) event locations  will be selected as eligible Grand Prize winners.  In the event of a tie amidst two or more Entries based on total Score, the eligible entrant associated with the Entry, from amongst all such Entries that are tied, with the highest score on relevance to the theme Criteria component will be deemed to be the eligible Grand Prize winner.  It is anticipated that judging will be completed on or about June 8, 2012 (the “Grand Prize Selection Date”).

A Sponsor Entity or its designated representative will manufacture a maximum of two (2) attempts to contact the Grand Prize selected entrants via newsletter or telephone within three (3) business days of the Grand Prize Selection term.  If any of the Grand Prize selected entrants cannot be contacted within two (2) attempts or three (3) business days of the Grand Prize Selection period (whichever occurs first), or whether there is a return of any

notification as undeliverable, thereupon that Grand Prize selected entrant will be disqualified (and will forfeit all rights to the Grand Prize) and Sponsor or Administrator reserves the right, in its sole and absolute discretion, to choose the eligible entrant who received the next highest total Score in accordance with these Official Rules to be the eligible Grand Prize winner (in which case the foregoing provisions of that section shall apply to such new Grand Prize selected entrant).

Winner may be mandatory to sign an Affidavit of Eligibility and Release of Publicity/Liability (where legal).  If a potential winner cannot be contacted within three (3) days of the first attempt to contact him/her, or whether he/she fails to return the signed Affidavit of Eligibility/Liability within three (3) days, or whether the potential winner is deemed ineligible for any other reason in Sponsor’s sole and absolute discretion, the potential winner will be disqualified and an alternate winner will be selected in his/her place by random drawing amongst all remaining eligible Entries received.




Entrant agrees to these Official Rules and to all decisions of Sponsor Entities, which are final and legally binding in all respects, and further agree that the Grand Prizes are awarded upon the condition that the Sponsor Entities and their respective parent companies, subsidiaries, officers, directors, partners, principals, partnerships, employees or agents shall have no liability whatsoever and shall be held harmless for any injuries, losses, or damages of any kind to persons or property, including death, sustained, in whole or in part, directly or indirectly, in connection with or resulting from acceptance, possession or use/misuse of the Grand Prize, or any portion thereof, participation in the Contest, and participation in any Contest-related activities and further acknowledges that said parties have neither made, nor are in any manner responsible or liable for, any warranty, representation or guarantee, expressed or implied, in fact or in law, relative to the Grand Prize, or any portion thereof, including but not limited to its merchantability, quality, mechanical condition or fitness for a specific purpose.


By entering the Contest, each entrant expressly consents to the Sponsor Entities, its agents and/or representatives, storing, sharing and using the personal info submitted with his/her Entry for the purpose of administering the Contest and in accordance with Sponsor’s privacy policy (available at: unless the entrant otherwise agrees.


Each of the Grand Prize winners is due to comply with any and all applicable federal, state, and local laws, rules, and regulations.  All federal, state and local taxes are solely each winner’s responsibility.  Sponsor may be called for to advise the United States Internal Revenue Service of the value of the Grand Prize awarded each winner and each winner is responsible for permitting proper filing and the issuance of an IRS profile 1099.


Sponsor reserves the right, in its sole and absolute discretion, to cancel, terminate or suspend the Contest, or any portion thereof, should virus, bugs, non-authorized human intervention or other causes beyond the control of Sponsor Entities corrupt or impair the administration, integrity or protection of the Contest (including but not limited to attempts to hack into or otherwise tamper with underlying source code/programming of any of the blog websites or any portion thereof).  The Sponsor Entities and their respective parent companies, subsidiaries, officers, directors, partners, principals, partnerships, employees or agents are not responsible for hardware, software or telephone failures of any kind, traffic congestion on the Web or the website or any combination thereof, lost network connections, incomplete, garbled or delayed computer transmissions, whether or not caused by any of the Sponsor Entities, users or by any of the equipment or programming associated with or utilized in the Contest or by technical or human error which may occur and/or which may damage a user’s system or limit an entrant’s ability to participate and/or redeem a prize in the Contest.  Sponsor reserves the right, at its sole and absolute discretion, to disqualify any individual who tampers with the Contest, violates these Official Rules, or otherwise engages in phoney or offensive conduct with respect to the Contest. Caution: Any attempt to intentionally damage any website or undermine the valid operation of the CONTEST is a violation of criminal and civil laws and should such an attempt be made, Sponsor reserves the right to seek damages from any such Entrants to the fullest extent of the law.


By accepting a Grand Prize, each Grand Prize winner agrees that Sponsor may use winner’s name, likeness or photograph, without limitation, for promotional plans without further consideration or payment, where permitted by law.  Grand Prize(s) are not transferable.  No cash or other substitutions allowed except at Sponsor’s sole and absolute discretion or as otherwise provided by these Official Rules.  Sponsor reserves the right to substitute a prize of equal or greater value whether the advertised prize becomes unavailable.  Sponsor’s failure to enforce any term of these Official Rules shall not constitute a waiver of that provision.  Should any provision of these Official Rules be deemed unenforceable or invalid, the other provisions of these Official Rules shall remain in full force and effect.  In the event that the Contest is challenged by any legal or regulatory authority (including but not limited to any federal, state or provincial, municipal or local governmental authority), Sponsor reserves the right to discontinue or modify the Contest, as applicable, or to disqualify any entrants residing in any affected geographic areas, as applicable.  In such event, Sponsor shall have no liability to any entrants who are disqualified due to such an action.


Except where prohibited, entrants agree that: (a) any and all disputes, claims, and causes of action arising out of or connected with the Contest shall be resolved individually, without resort to any mold of class action, and exclusively by an action in the Federal or State Courts located in Sedgwick County in the State of Kansas and (b) any and all claims, judgments and awards shall be limited to actual out-of-pocket expenses incurred, including expenses associated with participating in the Contest but in no event attorneys’ fees; and (c) under no circumstances will entrant be permitted to obtain awards for and entrant hereby waives all rights to claim punitive, incidental or consequential damages and any other damages, other than for actual out-of-pocket expenses, and any and all rights to have damages multiplied or otherwise increased.  All issues and questions concerning the construction, validity, interpretation and enforceability of these Official Rules, or the rights and obligations of entrant and Sponsor in connection with the Contest, shall be governed by, and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Kansas, without regard for conflicts of law doctrine of any jurisdiction.
